Patrick Bergin

Patrick Bergin has over 130 film and international TV credits to date. Best known as Julia Robert’s brutal husband in Sleeping with the Enemy, he has portrayed screen characters as varied as Robin Hood, St. Patrick, Jesus Christ, King Arthur, Count Dracula, Baron Frankenstein, Casanova (twice), and the 19th century explorer Sir Richard Burton.

Screen highlights include the terrorist opposite Harrison Ford in Patriot Games, The Courier, Mountains of the Moon, Map of the Human Heart, Ella Enchanted, and Durango based on the novel by John B. Keane. A strong supporter of independent Irish films, Patrick has recently completed Kiss of the Con Queen and Sunphlowers.

TV credits include Eastenders, Red Rock, The Real Charlotte, FBI International, and Morphine and Dolly Mixtures, for which he won a Best Actor BAFTA. He is currently developing a major period TV series set in Cork, The Mountcashells, with his wife Helen.

A talented musician and songwriter, he had a Top10 hit in Ireland with his song The Knacker, and performed Leonard Cohen’s Anthem for Pope Francis on his arrival at Croke Park. Patrick, ever versatile as an artist, is also the founder and artistic director of Cliona’s Love Stones, creating a Celtic jewellery range from ethically sourced minerals.
